Partner Josh Goodbaum was featured in an April 27 article in Law.com’s Connecticut Law Tribune about a Connecticut federal judge’s dismissal of a Title IX lawsuit filed against the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference and several boards of education challenging the participation of transgender female athletes in girls’ high school sports. The original lawsuit was filed by Arizona-based conservative nonprofit, Alliance Defending Freedom. Judge Robert Chatigny did not reach the merits of the case, instead dismissing it as moot because the two transgender girls involved in the dispute had already graduated high school.
“The issue of transgender athletes is a hot button one right now, but Judge Chatigny is not commenting on the legality of the issue. This was totally procedural,” Josh explained.
