Biography

Steven R. Alquesta joined Garrison Law in October 2025, after serving for two years as a law clerk to the Honorable Kari A. Dooley, United States District Judge, District of Connecticut. Before his clerkship, Steve was a commercial litigator at a large law firm in New York City and a prosecutor for the Connecticut Division of Criminal Justice in Stamford.

Steve is a graduate of Columbia Law School, where he was a submissions editor for the Columbia Journal of Environmental Law and president of the Columbia Law School Military Association. He also completed a judicial externship with the Honorable Dora Irizarry, United States District Judge, Eastern District of New York.

Steve earned his B.S. in History from the United States Military Academy at West Point and served as an infantry officer in the active duty Army from 2008 to 2018, achieving the rank of Captain. While on active duty, in addition to various staff assignments, Steve was a rifle platoon leader at Fort Stewart, Georgia, a mechanized infantry company commander at Fort Bliss, Texas, and a recruiting company commander in Chicago, Illinois. He deployed to Anbar Province, Iraq, in 2010 and to Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti, in 2015. Steve continues to serve part-time as a Major in the Connecticut Army National Guard, where he is assigned to Connecticut’s Joint Force Headquarters in Hartford.

A native of North Canaan, Connecticut, Steve lives in Litchfield County with his wife Mollee, their son Harrison, three cats, and a labrador retriever.
