NJ.com recently covered Garrison, Levin-Epstein, Fitzgerald & Pirrotti partner Steve Fitzgerald’s $11.6 million jury verdict on behalf of a railroad worker injured on the job. You can read the full article here.
The article details the Federal Employers Liability Act (FELA) lawsuit filed by former NJ Transit engineer Scott Lupia, who suffered career-ending injuries when he was ordered to operate a locomotive with a broken air conditioner on a hot summer day.
“He was a talented musician, he was a railroad buff, which is equally as sad. He loved his job,” the article quoted Steve saying. “I told the jury, he was literally living the dream, now it’s taken away from him.”
“We’re very pleased the jury gave Mr. Lupia an award that comes as close as possible to value the many losses he sustained as a result of the railroad’s outrageous negligence,” Steve said.
A significant portion of Steve’s practice involves representing railroad workers injured on the job and those who have faced retaliation for reporting safety concerns.
