Garrison, Levin-Epstein, Fitzgerald & Pirrotti, P.C. Partner Nina T. Pirrotti was elected to the Executive Board of the National Employment Lawyers Association.
NELA is the country’s largest organization of lawyers who exclusively or primarily represent employees in cases involving employment discrimination, illegal workplace harassment, wrongful termination, denial of employee benefits, and other employment-related matters. Its mission is to serve lawyers who advocate for equality and justice in the American workplace. Founded in 1985, NELA and its 69 state and local have more than 4,000 members nationwide.
Pirrotti, who was previously president of NELA’s Connecticut affiliate for a decade, was elected by NELA’s members nationwide to sit on the Executive Board, which consists of twenty-four members from around the country.
In addition, Pirrotti recently moderated and spoke on a panel discussion entitled “The Employee Who Stays: A Tangled Web,” during the NELA 2017 Annual Convention in San Antonio, Texas, on June 23.
The discussion explored the pitfalls and opportunities an employee can face after she complains about discrimination but nonetheless remains employed by the employer. Topics discussed included how the employee should lodge the complaint; how the employee should conduct him or herself to avoid termination; navigating the employer’s investigation of the employee’s allegations; and how the employee should document any retaliatory behavior.
Joining Pirrotti on the panel were Patricia A. Barasch of Schall & Barasch LLC and Jerome J. Dobson of Dobson, Goldberg, Berns & Rich, LLP.
